Michel Zemp and TOMAC Racing make a strong showing in Eschdorf (LUX) - The season opener in Hemberg/SG on June 6 & 7, 2026 is just around the corner, including a giveaway of 2 weekend tickets (see below)
Swiss hillclimb driver Michel Zemp and TOMAC Racing (operated by Zemp Racing) look back on an extremely successful testing session in Luxembourg's Eschdorf. With a strong performance and important insights from the test runs, the focus now turns to the start of the 2026 Swiss Hillclimb Championship season.
The new championship season officially begins on June 6 and 7, 2026, at the traditional Hemberg hillclimb. For Michel Zemp, the main focus is on defending his excellent runner-up title in the 2025 Swiss championship.
The team was able to make a strong statement even during the test in Eschdorf. On Saturday, Michel Zemp set the absolute best time in the first sector, impressively demonstrating the car's potential and the team's strong form. This performance is particularly noteworthy given that Zemp, with his proven 1165cc turbo engine, competes in the class up to 2 litres against cars from the more powerful 3-litre class with a power handicap.
Significant improvements were already evident during the previous test in Bresse in early April. In particular, the turbo engine's responsiveness and the speed of the gear changes could be significantly optimized. The team owes these improvements primarily to the motorsport department of HELFTEC Engineering in Hildisrieden, which has substantially further developed the powertrain.
TOMAC Racing (operated by Zemp-Racing Motorsport) drew a positive conclusion after the test runs: The results met expectations and provided important data for the setup of the race car. Michel Zemp, who became the 2025 runner-up Swiss champion, is preparing intensively with his team for the upcoming racing season, with a focus on technical optimization.
As Gabriel Fust of TOMAC Racing reported, work on the car proceeded smoothly throughout the test weekend. The team made important progress and looks forward to the season opener in Hemberg with great optimism.
Unfortunately, a serious accident with injuries and the death of a track marshal occurred in Eschdorf on Sunday morning, forcing the race to be immediately abandoned. Michel Zemp, the team management, and the entire crew of TOMAC Racing (operated by Zemp-Racing Motorsport) wish to express their deepest condolences to the family and share their great sorrow over this tragic event.
With great motivation, TOMAC Racing (operated by Zemp-Racing Motorsport) is now traveling to Hemberg, where the first crucial championship points of the 2026 season will be awarded.
